Skiing

Kanin is the only ski resort in Slovenia that can boast slopes higher than 2000 metres.

Sledding

This is the kind of sport that takes us back to our childhood. In the dark, illuminated by torches and headlamps, under the bright stars in the sky above the Julian Alps, sleds are rushing through the tranquil winter night.

Snowshoeing

The heavy snowfall of recent winters has made the snowshoes of our ancestors – 'krplje' – popular again.

Ice skating

During the winter season, when the temperature is suitable, there is an outdoor ice rink near the hotel at Bar Črna ovca and another one in Log pod Mangrtom.

Cross-country

The configuration of the Bovec Basin is very suitable for cross-country skiing. Less experienced cross-country skiers can enjoy the ski trail around the Bovec airfield and its extension toward Rabeljk.

Ski touring

The Kanin Ski Centre spreads across a great deal of the Kanin Range, but there are still places for those who enjoy the serenity of deserted slopes and skiing off of the maintained pistes.

Paragliding

The majority of aircraft sportsmen take a break during the winter, but paragliders are not among them.

Freeride skiing

Freeride is a kind of skiing, snowboarding or telemark skiing that takes one back to a time when ski lifts did not exist and people enjoyed skiing across "virgin" terrain.

Ice climbing

The valley of a hundred waterfalls – Loška Koritnica – turns into an ice climbers' "El Dorado" in winter.
